We can put a man on the moon...

... but we can't teach people how to merge on the highways.

Somebody put a bullet in me.

Look on the bright side - you could live in Tennessee, where they don't seem to believe in merge lanes. Near as I can tell, when you come to the end of the exit ramp you're supposed to just fling yourself into traffic and hope for the best.

Ooh, like the 'Launch Ramps' on I-90 as it goes past Chicago? Those things always reminded me of the launcher in a pinball game!

If you think THAT's bad.

There's this intersection about five minutes from my house which is a double-whammy. It starts off simply enough as an offramp from MA-9 onto a local road. What complicates matters is that 20 meters later along that lane curves around to the right onto another street. If you want to come off MA-9 and stay on that street, you have to come off that ramp and merge into the main street fairly quickly. Likewise, if you're coming from the street, and you want to get to the other street, you have to pull into that gutter lane. All the while, you have to watch out for folks who aren't leaving the lane in which they're travelling. Fun stuff!

We need more rotaries. The ones we have work very well. :-)
