Jazz is sick.
Our 14 year old kitty, Jazz, is sick.
lady_curmudgeon got a voicemail from the vet today after yesterday's visit to the cat clinic. She sums up pretty much everything in her post over here. The short story is that Jazz's blood work, paired with her symptoms, indicates she has a severe kidney disease. I don't know what the blood workup says as I haven't seen it yet, but she's shown increased drinking, increased urination and loss of body weight (She's lost 4 pounds, over 30% of her body weight, in the last few months).
She's so damn sweet and fun. This is scary. I don't want to lose her yet.
All thoughts greatly appreciated.

When the time comes as it will inevitably, Please remember my thoughts about this; the love we can feel for New Cats, rescued from a pound or one that has simply wandered into our lives especially, is an incredible gift given to us by those old cats who have loved us and passed on. If I hadn't had Puma my life, I would have never discovered the cat-shaped space in my heart, and I wouldn't have adopted Clyde and discovered who he is. When the time comes, I wll adopt another cat, in joy and in celebrtion of Clyde.
These creatures gift us.

She's still got a lot of life in her. We'll work with the vet to do what we can to give her many more years of happiness.
