I had a spare moment today at work, so I logged onto CNN.COM and saw that Jack Lemmon, an immensely talented actor, died Wednesday night at the age of 76. I haven't yet seen anything that says what the cause of his passing was, but I suspect a heart attack, given his age.

Jack was a prolific actor. He was probably most memorable in his roles for the movies "Grumpy Old Men," "Grumpier Old Men," "The China Syndrome" and "Some Like it Hot." But he starred in a lot of other things as well. For example, he played a role in a TV version of "12 Angry Men," which is a play that I read in high school that really struck a chord with me.

*Sigh.* First we lost Walter Matthau, and now we lose Jack. No more grumpy old men.

These last ten years have not been kind for our most talented stars. We've lost so many great names...Phil Hartman, Chris Farley, John Candy.. and those are just the actors. We've lost so many other talented individuals as well. Charles Schulz of 'Peanuts' fame, Jeff MacNelly who created 'Shoe'...

Rest well, Jack. You will be missed.

Sad.

I just found out via this article at MSNBC that Jack died from complications related to cancer. I didn't even know he'd been diagnosed with any form of cancer.

I'm unnerved, to be honest. When I consider my medical history, and the risk I am at because of my family's medical history, I can't help but wonder what my future holds from me. I can't help but feel sad that Jack died of something I was able to surive. Could I survive it again? I don't know.
