12:45 in the morning...

I just came in from spending fifteen minutes on the porch, standing in the darkness where the lights couldn't reach me from the parking lot. I stood outside, looked up at the night sky and watched the clouds as they scuttled past. When there were no clouds I tried to count the stars. When I lost count, I closed my eyes and just listened to the sounds of the crickets all around me.

Time passed.

With my eyes closed all I could do was imagine you doing the same thing...all I could think was that sometime, all those miles away, you've done the same thing.

It was a moment.

Around lunchtime today I got an e-mail from our webmaster, pointing me to this article from the fine folks over at Onion.
