Known Fact: Yawns are contagious.

Little Known Fact: Yawns are contagious across species. Ra was in my lap and yawned hugely and then I found myself yawning. A few minutes later I yawned... and immediately after I finished, Ra did too.

My cats have always made me yawn. Reading "yawn" sometimes makes me yawn. ;)

Cats make me yawn, if I lay down on the bed after work, all three of them surround me, warming me up while purring loudly. Nothing on this Earth will put someone to sleep faster. Well, maybe a cast iron frying pan to the head.

I read somewhere that it's sort of a social cue that crosses species. When Ra yawns, it says "I'm kind of relaxed right now, so I'm not about to start any shit with you." If you're not all pissed off and hopped up on adrenaline and someone yawns in your presence, you get an instinctive drive to yawn back, sending the message "Yeah, me neither." Not sure I buy it, but it's a cute idea.
