No Wave, but I'm trying to figure out how to root my brand spankin' new Samsung Moment running Android. Doubt I'll be the first, but I can at least try it.

*drool* How is the Moment? I'm trying to decide between Sprint's two offerings, and the Amoled and 800mhz is pretty much selling me on the Samsung.

If you're not gonna use all of them, I'll take one, if you're offering. :) Thanks!

I like the Moment better for those two reasons and because of the keyboard.

The battery indicator is a little flaky, and there are some bugs (like the camera returning the wrong format string for preview images) that cause some applications to break, but hopefully that stuff will get worked out with updates to both the phone and the apps.

No root yet on the Moment - but from what I hear, nobody's rooted the Sprint Hero yet, either. Android 1.5 - same as the Hero, but I think the Moment might be getting the 2.0 update later than the Hero.

To update the Moment, though, you *have* to run Windows - at least for now. It's kind of a pain, because they already have an update and I tried to use XP in a VM to do the update - no dice. I need to put Windows on another partition or something.

I'm also starting to get intrigued, if you've got any of those 12 to spare - bpdunn at gmail dot com if you're feeling generous :)

Ok, that's not bad, I can live with a little bleeding edge. I'm sure getting root will eventually be possible, so that's not a huge concern at the moment. I have Windows on my desktop, Linux on my server, and plenty of VM's to experiment with as well.

I'd be curious to know why the update didn't work in a VM. Under Vmware Server 2.0 I'd think it'd be fairly trivial to sync it.

I was using VMware Player. I try to avoid closed-source software, software that costs money and pirated software in that order or precedence. I guess I should try VMware Server... but I'll probably just end up shoving Windows on another partition on this same laptop, or on another laptop.

Speaking of, I do have another laptop sitting around with a blank HD, so I might as well try it.

I love Google voice. I have mine set up with Gizmo5 and a $20 IP phone you can get off Ebay (even still, they got a ton of them aparently) and I now have no phone bill at all.

I'm still playing with all the little features... I like how I can basically setup a different answer message for everyone in my contacts.
