Feren gets an e-mail from an angry dwarf. The dwarf is angry that the Nokia firewall in his campus is only pushing 100Mb, full-duplex Ethernet signals 120 meters out on UTP Cat5 and not the 145 meters through two patch panels he says he needs to go clear from one side of the building to the other. Why the dwarf is angry that the Nokia is exceeding the standard distance limitation of Cat5 UTP at 100 Mb/FD (which is 100 meters) by 20% is beyond the
panther.
