  • You have not lived until you've had your mother on the other end of a cell phone when you scream at the top of your lungs, "Jesus Christ, don't puke on the wall, you stupid cat!" You guessed it, Ra decided to sick up his dinner while I was trying to have a conversation with my mom. I think it goes without saying that I told her I'd call them back tomorrow since I had a minor pet emergency to deal with. I swear there's some hack in Hollywood who writes the scripts for some sort of dark comedy, and the Universe feels compelled to turn them into my life. I mean seriously, does anybody else on the planet own a projectile-vomiting cat?

  • Tomorrow is the Staff Meeting of Pain. Two hours in a locked room with AC and the other insane coworkers I have on my team. DR, my supervisor (the sane coworker whom I have an excellent rapport with) will be out tomorrow so I'll have nobody to turn to for support when the craziness gets out of hand.

  • I'm thinking of trying to have a sit-down with a manager who's been making snarky comments about me ever since Sunday morning's debacle with the DBA. I'm not sure if I should try or not, because I'm not sure I'd be able to avoid getting confrontational and I'm even less sure what I could accomplish or what I'm hoping to accomplish. I guess I just value that manager's opinion, and want to make things right again with him. Yay indecision.

  • Despite my earlier predictions I put in 65 minutes on the treadmill tonight, and appear to have twinged my ankle a bit.

  • I get paid tomorrow, this is a good thing. I think I'll make minimum payments to the outstanding card so that I can stash a bit more cash into savings this month.

  • I'm looking forward to shooting pool at Bumpers tomorrow night. I'm not so sure I'm looking forward to dinner at the Continental, because I crave eggs, and the eggs there are so darn hit-or-miss. Usually it's miss, much to my chagrin.

  • I went out for lunch today with DR, DP and RW. We went to the Kopper Kitchen, a place I've mentioned before. I had really good scrambled eggs today for lunch, along with some really good ham.

  • I greatly miss seeing that special somebody online. She's been absent for about two weeks now because of a number of reasons. I hope she's taking care of herself and knows that she's missed quite a lot, and quite often.

Take my advice, don't listen to me

Someone told me that it's good to pop a couple of ibuprophen a couple of hours before a workout because it reduces muscle swelling and promotes faster healing. Also, if you can find it get yourself a bottle of MSM, it helps injured joints and ligaments heal faster.

I'm not sure that I'd metabolise the ibuprofen fast enough for it to start acting during my workout or as I finish, but it does make sense to at least get started on it so I'm that much further ahead. I'll be sure to look around GNC for the MSM you mention as well this weekend. Thank you!

"minimum payments to the outstanding card so that I can stash a bit more cash into savings"

Unless your savings account earns you more interest than what you are paying on the card, I have to wonder why you would do this. I know in my case my credit card is 14.1%, and the best I can get out of savings is about 3%.

MSM is indeed helpful, but remember to also take vitamin C with it, the two work together.

Did you give your cat different food than usual? I have had cants all my life and more often than not it's a change of diet that causes that result.

The interest on my Novus (Discover Card) is so low it's practically negative. I took advantage of them earlier this year with a really good balance transfer program, so the rate is unbelievably low. So... yeah, it costs me less in interest than I earn from the savings account, and for me a "minimum" payment to that card is $400 instead of the $1,000 I normally send. :)

The advice on the MSM is appreciated. I've never heard of this stuff before.

No, Ra's just a sick sick cat. He's been diagnosed for almost two years now with severe chronic pancreatitis and moderate inflammatory bowel disease. Sometimes, despite careful diet management, special food (hypoallergenic, since he developed an allergy to the low-residue food) and the pills he'll relapse and throw up for a week or so, then go back to being pretty normal. These fits of sickness are because the vet had urged me to try backing him off his meds entirely. I didn't agree that it was the right choice, but gave it a try anyway.

    Projectile-vomiting cat? Hmm...

You must seek out and destroy the Farrelly Bros.

I've wanted to do that for quite some time anyway.

By the way, what are you doing next Friday night (http://www.livejournal.com/community/lafflist/16797.html)? (Yeah, not your usual crowd, but the food's mighty tasty!)

Aww... poor kitty. *patpat* And poor Inkblot for having to clean up afterwards. Having had to clean up after Angel a few times when she felt sick, I truly sympathize. Hope your ankle gets better, too. My left knee tried to lock up on me during work last night. Nothing more frightening than a salesperson limping your way. Braaaaains... ;)

    Still out there.

Still catching the entries whenever I can, and I'm sorry to hear about Ra.

As for zombies, I'd probly stop halfway through 'braaaaaains' and need a cue card.
