Just so you all know, "c" is for cellphone.

A series of amazingly stupid coincidences lead to my cell phone falling into the cat's waterbowl. Despite the outward appearance of surviving its bath (the LCD is still on, it shows it has a signal, etc) the phone doesn't respond to any key presses, and doesn't ring when you call the number.

I'm going to have fun explaining this one to my manager tomorrow. "Yeah, it sort of fell off my belt clip onto the floor in the bathroom, then I accidentally kicked it, giving it just enough lift to go into the water bowl we have out for the cats...."

I'm sure that'll go over well, especially since I'm on call.

I find that sometimes it is easier to simply -not- explain something. "Around 7pm last night, I discovered that the phone did not appear to be functional anymore. See?"

See, I wouldn't even say 'don't know why.' I'd just leave it as a statement of fact, "I found out it no longer works." That way, while I don't have to actually lie.

It sounds like one of those culminations of a line of ill luck/fate straight out of a movie, a movie like Final Destination and the like. ;)

I had a similair thing happen late last year... I was talking on my cel when I got home. Having my cel in my dominant hand meant that I unlocked the door to my room with my off hand and thust turned back to step into the room while drawing my keys from the lock... at the same time as my cat stepped underfoot. Up goes the phone while I go down.

Phone lands on the power cable of my computer... phone's fine. Computer is a *total* write-off. O.o

I continue to be at a complete loss for an explanation as to how your cell phone striking the power cord managed to blow out your PC. What an unfortunate waste!

And yes, just like your incident... this was indeed a serious of very dumb circumstances that happened to occur in just the right order to result in maximum chaos. It very well could have come out of a movie. The part that still amazes me about this whole debacle is when I kicked it just right so that it went up in the air and landed in the cat's water bowl. There's no way on this green Earth I could have done that if I had tried.

Give it a day or two to dry out. I've dropped my pager in the can before; it was dead for about three days. Some of the keys have been harder to register and the vibration isn't what it used to be, but it all works again.
