Oh, goody.
Aug. 3rd, 2005 12:21 pmI believe I mentioned that I spent a number of hours yesterday outside, directly in the hot sun.
The hot, afternoon sun.
With no protection on my head. My bald head.
Can you guess the end result? Sure you can! My scalp has sunburned nicely. Damn you, male pattern baldness! I should file a complaint with my employer -- if we were allowed to wear hats in addition to this ridiculous business-casual dress code (which really shouldn't apply to the Engineering staff unless we have a vendor meeting), I wouldn't have gotten scorched. Looks like I'll be spending my day with a cool washcloth on my head. I already look ridiculous with a bright red dome, so putting a washcloth on it will at least afford me some relief from the throbbing of the burn.

Date: 2005-08-03 05:25 pm (UTC)I am a huge fan of aloe after being burned a few times in Florida and once in Hawaii (that was the burn to end all burns, ugh). Unfortunately I don't have any here in the house so I'll have to venture out in public to find some.
It'll totally be worth it, though my pillow slips are going to look very strange for the next few days. ;)

Date: 2005-08-03 06:01 pm (UTC)Our company will never change its mind about dress code. Besides, you can make fun of our dress code policy every time you have to wear it. "We're not allowed to wear a hat, but ugly wigs and toupe's are not a problem...."
Personally, I would choose the MEN002 - only if it came with the muttonchops. That just seems more appropriate for this place ;)
That reminds me - my hair is thinning out too... :(

Date: 2005-08-03 06:49 pm (UTC)I go to Noah's Ark, and Coppertone Ultra-sweatproof Sport Sunblock SPF 45 is your friend. I put it everywhere, and I mean everywhere, back of the knees, tops of my feet, cheeks, ears, eyelids. Places I won't mention.
And one place I forgot one year: The part in my hair. Oh cripes, did that hurt. You don't need baldness to get a scalp sunburn.
Aloe Vera is your friend, I can get you her phone number.
