I arrived at work this morning and found this unexpected gift waiting for me. I dont know who left it for me... But thats okay. They gave me a big grin ,whoever they were! Of course this one will be taken away as well, despite its USB nature...

I note that they also had mini-lavas that run off your car cigarette lighter too, for people whose lifestyles demand 24 hour Lava coverage.

I didn't see all of them, but they did have silver ones with either pink or blue glitter in them. Note, these aren't proper amorphous phallic goo Lava Lamps, but the turbulent glitter version.

Why are you bothering with routing the computer through the lighter socket in the first place? Just go directly to the fuse block, dude.

Oh, that is the plan, nice startup controller circuitry, and wire it into the car's electrical system.

I was debating if a USB or 12v would be more usefull in the car.

Since I have activated that LJ setting that censors large pictures (with a stupidly large threashold for what constitutes "large") I was a little worried this was going to be a present which had been left for you by Ra.

Course if a cat left you a USB compatible present... well that would just be disturbing.

Yeah...I doubt any school would let me own a lava lamp . The kids would end up staring at the lamp instead of paying attention in class...

...I had the financial wherewithall, I'd buy these things for every freaking computer in your area, and every time your busybodynosywithnothingbettertodoharpyofasecretary made a fuss and took one or two, ten more would appear.

Of course, I cannot do this, as I work for $current_employer (which does not have %MARKET_COMPETITIVE_SALARY set.)
