I think this photo says it all. Its quarter to ten,i have been at this for five hours and i am only a third of the way through. And the deadline has been arbitrarily moved to this Friday! I love it when they do that to me. It makes the tumors grow.

We're changing Managed Security Service providers. Apparently we signed a contract and, in that contract, a specification was made that all configuration information must be ready for them by this Friday.

I'm so glad I was consulted on this deadline during negotiations.

I just got home from the colo center, after installing a switch that puts a client's server online.

Almost didn't, because we have 24/7 access but somehow my name never made it to the list of people allowed in the office building after hours.

This is after the late night adventure last week, taking a hub from the junk pile down there that worked perfectly well when I tried it out at home. But it didn't like the switches at the colo center.

Joy.

The day job is getting better about actually coming to me for estimates, but still suffers from the "Oh look, an emergency" ADD syndrome once in a while.

Sounds about as much fun as work calling me at 9:30 last week informing me that I was going to have to get up at 2:30 am to make a 4 am concrete pour. They lucked out. I was about to indulge in a large margarita to put me asleep for the scheduled 4:30 wake up (plus a 3 hour drive) I was origonally on line for.

Had I drank it I never would have made it past the Safety Officer.

Moral of the story:

1: Drink your booze fast damn it!
2: Never answer the phone past 9:00.
