Paid vacation from work!

A few weeks back I received word that I'd been summoned to serve as a juror. Today I didn't need to go in as I wasn't selected.. but when I got home from work this afternoon? Those magic words came on the line when I called in... and I am to report to the court house tomorrow.

Good: I get a paid vacation from work! (Yes, it's only $17.50/day or whatever but $EMPLOYER compensates for jury duty days)

Bad: There is no bad.

Disturbing: I'm quite possibly going to take part in a jury. A jury is supposedly composed of somebody's peers. Wait, they actually think I'm somebody's PEER?

...you had to call twice? I guess you don't have the "One Day, One Trial" system in Illinois. Hopefully it's a short case!

Apparently there's a "Morning Juror" and "Afternoon Juror" pool and we have to call in at 12 noon and 4:30 PM each day to see if we've been selected for one or both.

There is such a system according to the jury summons I just got, but I am in a different county in IL.

Payday

$EMPLOYER pays you in full for the day. Therefore you get what the court pays you, and what $EMPLOYER pays you for a normal day. I do know that from experience last summer.

There must have been a mistake after one of your gin binges. they heard you were a good pee'er and must have typoed it in the report somewhere.
