Hey Cheb, I just had the news about the I-35W bridge brought to my attention. Can you check in to let me know you and yours are okay? I tried calling but getting a free trunk line into any area remotely near Hennepin Country right now is just impossible.

I was able to get through to the farm, my family (parents, uncles, aunts and cousins) are fine.

Wow, how the fuck does something like that happen nowadays?!? Hopefully your friend is ok and there aren't too many casualties.

The bridge is 40 years old and the span is 500+ feet (2,000 feet long all told, I think) was undergoing repair of the road surface by MN DOT. The repair crew may very well have compromised the integrity of the span somehow, even if it was indirect...
