When I got up this morning I made sure I checked in on
lady_curmudgeon, who hasn't been feeling well for the last six days or so. She was feeling worse this morning and asked that I stay home to take care of her. I called in, spoke with my boss and got permission to skip work for the day. It was a good thing I did, because at 2:20 we packed ourselves into the car and drove over to the local immediate care facility. Curmudgeon was running a fever, her blood oxygen was low and her breathing was suffering -- I believe the max she managed on the peak flow meter was 225.
We got out of there at around 3:30, after a breathing treatment and some prescriptions were written. Curmudgeon's feeling better (her peak flow was back up in the mid 300s and blood oxygen was back up to 99) but we're going to have to keep an eye on things for the next few days to make sure the sinus infection doesn't set her back. I'm not yet sure what this means for our Thanksgiving plans, honestly. Traveling back to Kenosha to have dinner with her brother's family may be out of the question. We will have to see.

Date: 2007-11-21 12:03 am (UTC)At the risk of answering for her and putting words in her mouth (she's back in bed and resting) I am going to answer for her and put words in her mouth. The answer is "A little from column A and a little from column B." She didn't feel good so only left the room to experience con for sub-55 minute increments. Not feeling good also lead to her being a bit more quiet and bitey than she usually is when faced with social contact. On the other hand, this is her first MFF and is the first con in general that she has attended in years, so she was anxious and worried. She also worries about the opinions of my friends and people-we-have-only-just-met. [Editorial note: you're caught squarely between those two categories, so nyah.]
And then there's her general personality. As you aptly pointed out, her name does have a basis in reality! But she's a fun-loving curmudgeon, like me.
[reason for it or is it an ongoing issue?]
In this case she has a sinus infection (likely spawned from a headcold) that is causing the fever and general stuffiness. Post-nasal drip was clogging up her lungs and aggravating her asthma. Aggravated asthma means lower blood oxygen saturation levels, lower O2 saturation leads to feeling more sleepy and bitchy and encourages one to stay in bed, which keeps the post-nasal drip going and next verse, same as the first.
