We stopped for fuel at the trip's halfway point of Lyndon Station, WI. We filled up and found we had travelled 337.5 miles on 8.498 gallons of regular 87 octane gasoline. That comes out to 39.75 MPG, and that was with the air conditioner on for most of the way! Win! Not bad for a car that's almost 10 years old, eh?

Yes, I really like [livejournal.com profile] lady_curmudgeon's little Saturn four-door.

Still love [livejournal.com profile] martes 2002 SL. While getting it serviced recently, a dejected general manager of the auto dealership (who I never saw before, even when we were buying the car from the same place) informed me that Saturn had already cancelled the rest of the 2010 production run.

Little cars are much more efficient on gas mileage. When I take my 9 year old, Hyundai Accent on long road trips (sometimes as short as 2 hours) I can get up to 41 miles to the gallon. I love my car!

My '01 SL1 has given me fewer problems than any other car I owned (and I'm hoping I didn't just jinx myself).
The only complaint I have is that around that time Saturn used crappy ignition locks; break way too easily. The key can be hell to turn and can be removed while running. That's happened on all 3 that my friends and I have owned.

Heh, that almost cancels your huge SUV out. Almost. :D

I lurves my Acura for the very same reason. Hey Detroit, don't try to sell me that crap about how fuel-efficient your new crummy crossovers SUVs are, when my 15-year old Integra with 210k original miles on it still gets about 37MPG combined. (And that's with a ton of extra crap in the back that I need for work, and have to lug around.)

And people are still wondering why the US auto industry is in such a shambles.
