This day has started off so well already! Not only did I get my paycheck from my company this morning, but I got my electronic deposit from the Feds for my tax return. Mmm, $630 back from the government. That went straight into the savings account, adding to the fund for the house purchase. Mmm, money is good.

Now if only I didn't have to deal with my boss at work today, I'd be having a great day.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I'd got my money back from the Feds when I checked my account balance online yesterday (before mailing checks for WHC and WFC registrations). Whee. Alas, mine goes to my credit card bill. To get it closer to paid off by the end of the year.

Then (and only then) can I think about putting money asside to save for a house.

G'luck on avoiding your boss! :)

Yeppers. Doing both. (And Worldcon, too, but I've yet to mail them my $180 ... *whimper*)

Groovy! I'm doing WHC, too, along with [livejournal.com profile] uglyzebras. I very well might wind up at WFC as well, since it's practically going on in my backyard.

I'm not sure I could justify $180 to go to Worldcon. I could attend 9 CONvergences for that price. But still... one of these days, I will probably wind up there.

I can't really justify the $180 for Worldcon in any way other than, All the cool kids are going to be there. Or, at least a lot of them. And I'm trying to network, too. Which means I have to remember not to let my badge flip backwards in parties (lest I get scolded again by She Who Knows Better Than I [whom I adore, really, so I didn't mind the scolding]).

It's that I wanna be a Real Writer when I grow up thing.

Yes, I am quite familiar with the networking thing, thought I don't really have a goal with it other than just meeting lots of nifty people and promoting the web site to no real ends.

Maybe next year for Worldcon...

When did you (and Feren) file your returns? I filed mine Feb. 19, and wondering if they already deposited the refund. (FSR I got back the certified mail card for the state, but not for my Federal tax returns.)

Y'know... I honestly don't remember. A month ago? It was towards the beginning of Feb, I think.

Are you filing paper returns for the Federal and state? I can't believe the state of Oregon still lets people use paper forms. ;-)

I e-filed my Federal tax return with TurboTax on the 24th of January and had my refund disbursed into my checking account on the 8th of February.

As for the state (of MA), they made good on their promises to disburse refunds for tele-filed tax returns within four days.

My federal tax refund got stashed away in my savings account for moving expenses/summer convention fundage. My state tax refund is being spent on smaller things, like a new litterbox for my cat, an oil change for my car, new contacts and a shot in the ass for me. You know, fun stuff.
