Paid vacation from work!

ferenA few weeks back I received word that I'd been summoned to serve as a juror. Today I didn't need to go in as I wasn't selected.. but when I got home from work this afternoon? Those magic words came on the line when I called in... and I am to report to the court house tomorrow.
Good: I get a paid vacation from work! (Yes, it's only $17.50/day or whatever but $EMPLOYER compensates for jury duty days)
Bad: There is no bad.
Disturbing: I'm quite possibly going to take part in a jury. A jury is supposedly composed of somebody's peers. Wait, they actually think I'm somebody's PEER?
