ferenI pulled a 12 hour shift at work, from 6pm Saturday until 6am Sunday morning. We had to shut down our NOC/datacenter so that final wiring and testing could be completed for our current major project: implementing a generator for backup power.
The generator install went smooth. In fact, they started at 7:15pm and were done at about 1am.
It was bringing the rest of the systems back up that caused trouble. I won't go into the gory details, but suffice it to say that when you have machines with uptimes in excess of 146 days you just shouldn't shut them down; It only leads to nastiness with the aforementioned device.
I got home, and slept badly. It was alternately hot and then cold in my bedroom. My cat decided, since I was strung out on sleep deprivation, caffeine and nicotine, that he had to run around and screw with everything. The little black bastard was jumping on keyboards, knocking over sandcasts, and sending pictures flying off my walls. Yes, I do love him to death, even if he'll be the death of me. And, if you've not seen pictures of my little menace, here's one for your viewing pleasure.
