It's 6:10 in the morning. I was awoken by the sound of little black Ra feet pitter-pattering where they don't belong: on top of my systems shelf. As I groggily move to chase the cat off the keyboard so it stops beeping, I hear the sound of something glass hitting something metal... then, suddenly, my firewall's keyboard WON'T STOP BEEPING. I spend ten minutes pressing every button to make sure it isn't stuck, but it still won't stop beeping. It would seem that the cat has been studying my Sun system to find the prrrrfect key combination to lock it up.

Ultimately I ended up unplugging the keyboard, because I couldn't take the noise anymore. Tomorrow I will have to plug it back in and pray that it isn't still stuck in repeat, otherwise I'll have a break sent to the firewall that I won't be able to undo, leaving me with a firewall that won't route packets.

New rule: Ra goes into his carrier every night at 10pm and is only released at 7:30am when I get up for work.

Bitbucket wedged itself fully at about 9:45pm, after a day of sporadic packet loss. The system wouldn't accept telnet from my management PC, and when I plugged in the keyboard again I didn't even get the dread sun ok prompt. I turned off the system, unplugged and then plugged the keyboard back in, and rebooted the system. Everything came back up clean, I can reach bitbucket via telnet from cougar again, so I seem to have escaped the worst of it for now. Yay me, I guess.

I suggest you find someplace to put the keyboard where Ra can't walk all over it? Be creative.

And it's probably a better idea to confine the black devil cat to the bathroom at night rather than his carrier. That way he'll have room to move and his litterbox right there.

I bet Ra wouldn't be able to step on the keyboard with it jammed sideways up his arse! But you don't have to go with my suggestions ;)

(I still stand by my assertion that he spends all day sleeping specifically so he has the creatvity needed to fuck shit up at night :P)

The problem with confining him to the bathroom is that I'm guessing a new roll of toilet paper on a daily basis gets expensive. I still wanna know how he does that.
