Interesting. I was actually just telling a co-worker here what he needed to do to make a gun his brother was giving him as a gift legal; around here you just need to register the firearm itself, and get yourself a certificate from any valid safety training course, then present yourself to the Sherriff with your papers and the application fee. That isn't, of course, including any stuff you'd need to do for a CCW, which we do allow in this state.

I had no idea it was so complicated in other states.
