Those who watch The Venture Bros. are probably familiar with the episode "Victor. Echo. November." where Hank quips at Dr. Venture, "I thought God shaved your head." Dr. Venture replies, "He does, but he leaves the sides, Mister Weisenheimer." Well, I may not ever build a walking eye but God also shaves my head... and he does indeed leave the sides.

The downside of shaving one's head is that you run a risk of nicking yourself with the razor blade. This risk is no different than what most men encounter when they're shaving, say, their face.

The difference is that scalp nicks bleed a lot more. Or I can't get my blood to coagulate up there. Something is different, anyway, and I'm getting tired of holding this wad of tissue paper to the side of my head. Maybe, going forward, I'll just start sticking my head in a bucket of Nair.

Way back when I used to shave my head (Yes, I used to have a dome.)I had the same problem. And gods forbid you have a bump that you nick with the razor. You need a transfusion after that shit. This is why I'm keeping my lengthy, lovely locks until the ghost of George Jefferson comes to haunt me.

The head (due to the brain being there) requires a constant well kept blood supply. There's lots of bits REALLY close to the skin on everyone's head that will bleed lots, most especially in close proximity to the skull itself. The outer epidermal layers have lots of things going on there and a lot of pressure- due to gravity, the pressure from the heart to force blood up is higher as well...

Packing Corn starch into the wound can cause it to clot faster. I know it's recommended for cutting cat's nails if you cut too far down, not sure for humans though.

Make sure you specifically use the "Nair for Men", unless sterility is part of your shaving plan.

They make that?

Does with work with facial hair too? It would be awesome to not take a sharp object to my face anymore.

Ahh yes, styptic which comes from the latin and roughly translates to "salt for your wound".
