So, while I was in New York I got to do very few tourist-like things. Well... I did no tourist things at all, actually. But I did get to see that certain cliche trappings from the movies are true: the cab drivers are insanely frightening in the way they drive, crowds of pedestrians cross the street like cattle being driven on the trail, cab drivers are very talkative and steam rises from under the manholes in the street. Even when it's 85 degrees outside, there's steam coming from under the manholes. Think about that for a minute. Steaming. Manholes. In the dead of summer.

If I ever open a gay bar, I am without a doubt going to name it The Steaming Manhole.
