Ah, the glorious sounds of winter.

While I was out shoveling the driveway and sidewalk this morning, I was reminded why I love winter:

*obvious sound of a pull-start engine being yanked on*
whud whud whud. whud.

whud whud Whud WHUD WHUD WHUD WHUD! WHUD! Whud. whud.

"Fuck."

A snowblower is a luxury that I miss having (the one my parents have on the farm can kick wet, sticky snow into a rooster tail 25 feet tall....) but, on the other hand, it's hard to have a problem starting your shovel.

You would think! My shovel's still in at the shop being worked on. ;P

Actually, even though I just have an apartment now instead of a house, I'm glad to have a shovel. December last year, when the really big storm hit, I bought an ergo-handle shovel at the hardware store down the block. I was able to shovel my way out of the parking lot, then threw it in the trunk of the car, after which it proceeded to help me get dug out of drifts 3 or 4 times that day.

I disagree. I have trouble starting my shovel every year. Thank dodge for 4 wheel drive!

This is one advantage of the townhouse-ish thing I live in. While still meandering around with coffee in the morning, I hear the staff come up to my door with the shovels, and then go away again. Open door, clear path.

I kinda like that. :)

I also have issues starting my shovel... or rather, getting my ass out there to start in the shovelling. I simplified my problem though, moved to Florida. "Fuck Snow", I believe is what I said.
