Spam doesn't pay, and payback is sometimes as simple as a Google search, or at least that is what a supposed "computer consultant" in the Chicago region by the name of Bernard Shifman is finding out.

It just goes to show you: if you don't want others to see it, don't get the 'net involved. It's a powerful medium, and the technical expertise required to navigate it is becoming less and less every day as new software and technologies are employed. After reading this I felt the urge to go do a vanity search of my name on Google, just to see what turns up. Nothing I didn't expect, and nothing I'm ashamed of seeing, either.

I did a google search on myself... and in the 30 odd pages I flipped through, I only found two things that pertained to myself... One was a post to a mailing list that I didn't know was publicized (I haven't read it since.. er.. late 99?) and the other was someone quoting me (!!) from tech support I had provided in 1998. Everything else was geneology related... which I found surprising.

So yeah. I'm not worried about what potential employers will find on me on the web. Using my internet alias has its advantages. :>

And if someone does a search on your alias, they'll probably get 800 pages about falconry ;)
